This adorable vintage 1950s full skirted dress by Jonny Herbert makes ingenious use of a cotton floral border print. The flowers are printed in shades of yellow and green on a white ground, with darker shades at the hem. The bodice is cut from the darker border, while the gathered bust insert is cut from the lighter portion at the other end of the fabric. Sweet! The gathered bust inset is set off with self-fabric piping and buttons and loops accent the waist, so the dress has a dirndl styling. The thin shoulder straps sit wide, nearly at the tops of the arms. The dress closes with a center back metal zipper and is unlined.
