Vintage 50s RAPPI Party Prom Dress Pink Wedding Small bust 35
Syd Rappaport was the designer of the high-end formal wear line
called Rappi. Every dress I've had by her has been a stand-out super
star, but this one takes the cake by far! This would be perfect for a
bride who wants to wear a color other than white. This dress was
originally sold by Lipman, Wolfe, & Co., Portland, Oregon's finest
department store. Dating to the 1950s, this dress is a confection of
palest pink tulle that is accented with horizontal rows of pink
horsehair braid and iridescent sequins. That horsehair braid helps hold
the skirt out to it's fullest potential. The front bust has a separate
outer layer that sits away from the inner fitted bodice in what we
vintage dealers call a "crumb-catcher" style. There is a wide
waistband. The full skirt consists of 2 layers of tulle at the upper
portion and 3 layers starting about halfway down. The dress closes with
a center back metal zipper and is completely lined in pale pink
taffeta. The bodice is fully boned for support. Note: We've shown
this dress over a full crinoline that is not included. The dress was too small for our mannequin. The zipper works just fine.
