This is one of the most incredible garments I have ever found! This vintage 1960s Oscar de la Renta evening gown with matching coat was sold by Bergdorf Goodman’s custom salon to Mrs. J. F. Schoellkof on 11/11/1968. Research reveals that the Bergdorf’s saleswoman probably misspelled the name Schoellkopf, and that the original owner of this set was part of the Buffalo, NY Schoellkopf family.

The set is fashioned of a metallic brocade worked in pink, brown, and white with gold metallic threads. The opera coat is trimmed at the collar and cuffs with genuine mink fur in a rich deep brown. The cuffs come to points and can be worn folded back, as shown, or let down so the fur is on the inside. The coat closes with the most elaborate gold metallic frog closures that are adorned with rhinestones, pearls, and gold and silver chains. Hidden snaps add extra security behind the frog closures. The coat is lined in brown silk taffeta and there are pockets at the side seams.

The evening gown is adorned with elaborate gold metallic braid that has with rhinestones, gold beads, and bell shaped gold rings. It edges the neckline, the center front bodice, and the waist seam. The dress closes with a side nylon zipper and three hooks and eyes at the left shoulder. It is completely lined in cream China silk. There are pockets at the side seams.

CONTENTS & CARE: No labels – Rayon and metallic with genuine mink fur – Dry Clean – Dress comes to you freshly dry cleaned and ready to wear – Due to fur trim, coat has not been cleaned.

CONDITION: Excellent – Dress has been dry cleaned. There is a small amount of wear to the brocade at the very edge of the coat hem. This does not show when worn.
