Tilt hats were popular in the late 1930s and early 40s and I believe this one probably is from the later 30s.  This gorgeous hat was made by Lottie Doros, a milliner in Boston.  It is fashioned of genuine black broadtail lamb fur.  The hat is conical in shape and has a bit loopy bow at the front left.  It has a band that is worn on the back of your head which holds the hat in place tilted forward over your brow.  The hat is lined in black wool felt.  Measures 18" around the inner hatband.  Excellent condition.  The fur is soft and supple with no splits, dryness or shedding.  There is makeup staining at the front of the inner hatband, but this will now show when worn.  Original price – $125.00.
