I am in awe of the color in this evening dress which dates to the late 1930s or very early 40s. At a time when the world was heading into war, the bright chartreuse green silk chiffon and printed rayon crepe in blue, purple, and green would have brought a brightness to any party. The silk chiffon bodice floats over a matching taffeta camisole lining and features smocking stitches at the tops of the sleeves and shoulders for added fullness. The rayon crepe skirt is cut on the bias and is very full for a wonderful swirly drape. An extra panel of fabric is ruched over the wide waistband at front and back. The dress closes with a side metal zipper and a single button and loop at the front collar.
