We have recently acquired a large collection of fabulous hats from the estate of Mrs. F. E. Plankenhorn of Williamsport, PA.  Mrs. Plankenhorn's husband was the owner of the Penn Garment Co. and Plankenhorn Braid Works.  As the wife of a man in the fashion business, it was Mrs. Plankenhorn's job to look stylish at all times.  Her hat collection reflects this and over the next couple of weeks, we'll be offering her marvelous hats here at Couture Allure.

This fabulous hat dates to the early 1940s and bears a New York Creations label.  The hat is a basic Juliet cap made of braided black straw.  Large loops of magenta pink and seafoam green silk ribbons decorate the front of the hat.  Green and magenta ribbons are also braided through the straw.  The hat is lined in stiff black fabric and there is an elastic cord that is worn to the back to help hold the hat on your head.  Measures 20 1/2" around the inside.  Excellent condition.  The ribbon loops were flattened from storage, but we have steamed them back into shape.  You may need to steam them again when you receive the hat.
