Vintage 40s Silk Floral Dress with Purple Velvet Cape XL bust 43"

You know how difficult it is to find vintage in larger sizes, right? To find a late 1930’s to very early 40’s silk floral evening gown in this size is almost unheard of. The dress is fashioned from a waffle texture silk crepe in a vibrant floral print in purple, green, yellow, and pink. It has a sweetheart neckline and tiny shoulder pads. The skirt is cut on the bias. The dress closes with a side metal zipper and is unlined. Included is a matching purple silk velvet cape from Lord & Taylor. The cape has a smocked collar that stands up with hidden boning. The fullness comes from gathers along the yoke. The cape ties at the front and is lined in purple silk chiffon. It attaches to the dress with snaps located at the side corners of the sweetheart neckline.
