The company would invite a diverse group of women, from college girls, to career women, to homemakers to select and approve designs before they were manufactured and sent to stores. Their ads would state, "Fashion endorsed by the Minx Modes Board of Review". Clever, no?
This vintage 1950s sheath dress by Minx Modes is fashioned of deep gray cotton velveteen that is kitten soft and oh-so touchable. The high bateau neckline in front drops to a dramatic V in the back and is perfect to highlight a fabulous brooch or necklace. Gathers and a tuck under the bust give shape at the empire waist seam. Two deep pleats extend from the waist to the hem at the front to give ease to the sheath cut of the dress, but a taffeta lining panel inside holds the pleats from opening from bust to hips. Long slender sleeves keep you warm on those cold winter nights. The dress closes at the back with a metal zipper and is unlined, save for that panel at the front.
