This incredible vintage late 1950’s cocktail coat is made from authentic Uchikake kimono silk brocade, which is the fabric used for formal bridal kimonos. The original owner of this coat probably traveled to the Orient in the 1950s and purchased the kimono silk, then had it made into a coat. The kimono silk is woven with metallic silver and gold color threads and is embroidered with flowers and fans in muted red, green, purple, and cream. This fabric is exquisite. The coat is simple in cut and fashioned with deep pleats that extend from the shoulders down the body of the coat. Pockets are hidden in the pleats at the front. There are no closures and the coat is completely lined in teal green silk satin. This piece is quite heavy, so there is probably a stiff interlining which helps the coat hold it’s shape. I guarantee you will stand out from the crowd in this stunning coat!
