Vintage 60s Black Mermaid Hem Evening Gown Dress Small bust 35"

Mam’selle by Betty Carol is one of those unsung vintage labels, but it’s one of my favorites. Every dress I’ve ever had by this label is incredibly sexy, and this one is no exception. This vintage early 1960s evening gown is fashioned of black rayon crepe. It is fitted to the body from shoulder to knee and then flares out at the sides and back with huge godet inserts that form a mermaid hem. Black satin bows accent the tops of the godets. The hem hangs 2" longer in back to form a slight train. The front is straight with a 17" slit and the hem is weighted so it hangs correctly. The cutaway shoulders of the dress lead the eye to the back to reveal a deeply cut scoop neckline. The dress closes with a center back nylon zipper and is lined in cotton batiste.
