This vintage early 1960s cocktail dress by Mason-Edwards is quite unusual with a removable dickey that fills the deeply cut front neckline. Fashioned of black silk shantung, the has horizontal tucks below the dickey and angled pleats at the skirt front for plenty of interesting shaping and drama. The dickey is fashioned of white taffeta and is covered with ruffles of white lace. It attaches to the dress with snaps and has elastic shoulder straps and an elastic waistband. The dress closes with a center back metal zipper and is lined in cotton batiste. While the dress looks quite "sweet" with the white lace, I think I would remove the dickey and wear it over a black lace camisole or perhaps have another dickey made of gold lamé.
