In the early 60’s, women would travel to Hong Kong and have suits and dresses custom made. This 3 piece suit by Vanny Hong Kong is one such suit. And you know those Asian tailors do the most exquisite work. This suit is fashioned from a golden yellow silk/rayon satin jacquard with a design of peacocks and birds in large circles. All three pieces are accented with solid gold bands that form fleur-de-lis and are edged in the tiniest piping in a slightly darker color. The boxy jacket closes with a tiny pearl button and loop on the inside of the neckline. The sleeveless top closes with buttons and bound buttonholes at the back. The straight skirt has a set-on waistband and side metal zipper. All three pieces are unlined but all the inner seams are finished with binding. The skirt has been altered – details below. Note: The gold color of this suit is a bit darker than it appears in the photos.

CONDITION: Very Good – The skirt was altered to fit the original owner. The waist was made larger and longer by adding a panel at the top and a new waistband in a different fabric. The original darts have been let out and needle marks show next to the new ones. This suit is an excellent choice if you have a larger waist. There are a couple of tiny picks in the satin on the front of the skirt.
