In the 1950s and early 60s Arthur Jablow was one of the companies authorized to copy Chanel suits. This is one of those copies. Fashioned of a nubby textured cream wool boucle, the jacket is edged in gold and cream braid trim at the opening edge, collar, pocket flaps and sleeve cuffs. The same braid trims the pockets and front waist of the skirt. There are gold brocade cuffs hand sewn to the sleeve cuffs to give the appearance of a blouse without the added layer. The jacket closes with metal filigree buttons and bound buttonholes. A brass chain is sewn at the inside hem of the jacket. The skirt has pleats below the pockets at the front. It has a set-on waistband and closes with a side nylon zipper and snaps at the waistband. Both pieces are completely lined in cream silk.
