Adolfo started as a milliner, but by 1962 he was designing his own line of clothes and he loved to work with knits. This early 1970s maxi dress by Adolfo for Saks Fifth Avenue is fashioned of a Santana knit in black with cranberry and red stripes at the turtleneck collar and sleeve cuffs. The bodice and sleeves are rib knit which gives way to a flat knit below the waist. The dress has a long nylon zipper at the back, and the collar can be worn several ways, depending on how far up you close the zipper. Unlined.
