The Miss Dior line was launched in September 1967 and was a less expensive ready-to-wear line made to appeal to a younger customer. The Miss Dior store was located on Rue Francois Premier, next door to the Dior couture house. For the first three years, The Miss Dior line was sold in stores throughout France, but was not exported so as not to compete with the Dior-New York label. It became available in the US in December 1970, and was an immediate success. The line was designed by Phillipe Guiborgé, who also designed the Dior Boutique line and was assistant to Marc Bohan in the couture house. Miss Dior clothing was made in the Dior workrooms. Guiborgé is best remembered for designing a Dior Boutique dress in 1964 with the Dior logo printed all over it, and he was the first French designer to use vinyl for sportswear.
I must tell you, in my years of selling vintage clothing, I have NEVER seen this label. And I could not find another Miss Dior dress on the web anywhere. So when I tell you this dress is a rare find, you can believe it! This vintage early 1970’s evening gown is fashioned from mustard yellow wool knit. It is a simple sheath shape with princess seams and a jewel neckline. The wow factor comes from the wide sleeve cuffs which are decorated with huge plastic oval beads and gold star shaped sequins. The dress closes with a hand stitched nylon zipper at the center back and is completely lined in mustard China silk. The sleeve cuffs close with hand stitched nylon zippers. Original price – $375.00. All sale items are Final Sale with no returns accepted.

CONDITION: Very Good – There are 2 plastic beads missing from the right cuff and one missing from the left cuff. I have had this dress professionally cleaned. Some tiny soil spots remain at the back of the left sleeve above the cuff. There are also a couple of very faint yellow spots that disappear into the color of the dress. The cleaner did not want to treat the dress too harshly for fear of damaging the beading. There is wear to the edge of the right pocket where the fabric turns. This is not noticeable. There are a couple of broken stitches at each underarm – again not noticeable.
SHIPPING: Shipping cost for this dress is $15.00 in the US and $27.00 international.
