SOLD Vintage 70s LEONARD PARIS Panne Velvet Maxi Evening Dress Small bust 37

Daniel Tribouillard was the genius behind the prints at Leonard Fashion of Paris.  By the early 70s, prints by Leonard Fashion rivaled those of Emilio Pucci in quality and popularity.  This dress dates to about 1971-72, when the bell sleeve was used in the line.  Fashioned of a luxurious stretch knit panné velvet, the orange, purple, yellow and green on black colors of this print are still vibrant and eye-catching.  The print has no Leonard signature, which is completely normal for this time period.  The border print is used cleverly at the dropped waistband and hem.  The wide sash belt is worn obi style and is long enough, at 74", to wrap around the waist twice, if desired. Or wear it as a headband!  The dress closes at the back with a hand-stitched nylon zipper and is unlined.
