Jean Charles de Castelbajac pieces are becoming exceedingly rare and are highly collectible today.  This designer's clothing can be hard to date because he always marched to his own drummer, designing oversized and unconstructed clothing years before others followed suit.  Due to the color of this dress, I am dating it to the early 1980s, but it could certainly be from the 70s as well.  It was designed for his mother's store, Ko and Company.  This dress is fashioned of cotton broadcloth in a bright teal green that is hand screenprinted with blue and pink flowers.  The dress is cut straight from the shoulders and has a large flap pocket at the front bodice.  The neckline can be worn buttoned or not and there is an attached hood.  There are in-seam pockets at the hips.  The dress is meant to be loose fitting and just slips on over the head.  Unlined.  Original price – $375.00.
