Vintage 90s GEOFFREY BEENE Black Lace Cocktail Dress XS bust 33"

In the fall of 1990, Geoffrey Beene launched a short lived secondary line labeled Mr. Beene that was a mid price line of dresses, suits, coats, and eveningwear for the career women who could not afford the 4 and 5 figure prices of Beene’s main line. This dress is from the first collection of the Mr. Beene label and was featured in a New York Times article. The dress is fashioned of black metallic lace layered over black and white silky satin in a houndstooth pattern, layered over sheer black organza. The bodice front is of the black metallic lace layered over the black silk organza, and the sleeves and bodice back are of just the sheer metallic lace, so remain sheer. The skirt has all three layers and is fully gathered at the back. All three layers are edged with black metallic lace at the hem and the hem lengths are graduated so the underlayers peek out. This dress slips on over the head and has no closures. Please allow enough ease to get it on over your shoulders.
