Jewelry designer Renee Lewis got her start in fashion by taking high end vintage couture garments and reworking them into more modern pieces for Barney’s in Beverly Hills. Each piece was redesigned and reworked by hand with intricate attention to detail.

This vintage 1990s dress by Renee Lewis Vintage Couture was reworked from a 1980s dress. The original designer label is gone. The dress is fashioned of bronze openwork Venice lace layered over bronze taffeta. The bronze fabrics are woven with black threads for a two-tone effect. Renee Lewis reworked the dress by removing the original lining, cutting away the taffeta backing to bare a lot of skin in front and back, adding boning to the bust for support, and then adding a completely new hand-sewn black lining. The lace is completely bare from shoulders to waist with just enough coverage over the bust. The back is bare from shoulders to waist. The dress closes with a nylon zipper at the back from waist to hips and hidden hooks and eyes at the lace scallops from neckline to waist.  Original price – $295.00.
